The Breif
We built Black Country Slang with a bespoke content management system (CMS) primarally and then moved the website on to wordpress as the operator was struggling with the overheads of a customer wbesite. We re-built the wordpress website with custom post types. The primary objective of the website was to create a searchable online dictionary of Black Country slang words & to offer a blog.
The new wordpress CMS enabled website editors to easily submit new content, such as words, definitions, and examples, to the black country slang dictionary. This custom post type had fields for the word, definition, and example, as well as other relevant metadata such as origin, usage, and related words. The CMS also supported the ability to categorize and tag the content for easy organization and searchability.
In addition to the CMS, SEO goals were a priority for the website. This included optimizing the website's structure, content, and metadata to improve search engine rankings for relevant keywords. The website was also designed to be mobile-friendly and responsive to different screen sizes.
